Tim and Heather
Meet the Owners:
Tim and Heather Baker found themselves having to downsize and move 2 sets of parents in 2 years. Heather’s parents were hoarders, and lived in Orange County, CA. Tim and Heather spent 5 months driving down to OC on the weekends, sorting and downsizing her folks, and working full-time Monday -Friday. After a month or two, they were exhausted and looked on the internet for help. They couldn’t find anyone who helped in this situation. Eventually they got Heather’s folks moved, settled into their ADU, and were caregiving both of them.
6 months later, Tim’s mother fell onto a stone floor and broke her arm, and bones in her face. She was already fighting cancer and was scheduled for heart surgery. Tim and Heather spent the weekends driving up to Bakersfield to do the process all over again. Sort, downsize and sell what Tim’s mother couldn’t bring to the Assisted Living Facility. Again, they could find no one to help.
When Tim had an opportunity to begin his own business, he came across the Caring Transitions Franchise. He was immediately drawn to the purpose of the franchise, as both knew that finding that type of help had been impossible. They started the South Bay PV office in November of 2018 so that no one would have to go through what they had gone through.
Prior to that, Tim and Heather had lived in Torrance since 1990. Their daughters, now grown, went to Torrance schools: Fern Elementary School, Madrona Middle School, and Torrance High School. Heather’s mother had graduated from Torrance High School in 1949, so coming to Torrance was a type of coming home. Prior to starting Caring Transitions South Bay PV, Tim worked for 27 years as an inventor for an importing company. Heather had been a stay-at-home mom, an associate pastor, and a Professional Organizer. Their daughters currently reside in Seattle.
