Palos Verdes Estates

A beautiful city designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr.  Trees are held in high regard by the city and the residents.  There are 2 shopping  and dining districts, Malaga Cove and Lunada Bay.

Senior Living Communties

There are no Senior living communities in the boundaries of Palos Verdes Estates.  Since the city was designed and founded before modern senior communities became popular, no space was available to build one.  The entire area still abides by the plans laid out by Olmstead.  However, there are several communities in the surrounding areas.

Landmarks:

Landmarks include the:

  • Mirlo Gate Tower- This stone turret was originally built to serve as a guard gate for the city.  It was someone's home until just recently.
  • Malaga Cove Plaza- One of the main shopping areas in Palos Verdes Estates.  Known for the Poseidon Fountain and gracious arched store walkway.
  • Shoreline Park- Beautiful views at all times of day are available from this cliff-top park.
  • South Coast Botanic Gardens- Someone  was thinking outside of the box when they turned the city dump into a multi acre garden with areas of plants from around the world.
  • Neighborhood Church- This church, which is still an active church, is a stunning location for weddings, events, and an annual Christmas event which features live people portraying scenes from the of the birth of Jesus.
  • Lunada Bay Fountain- This is a lovely circular fountain in the center of Palos Verdes Blvd. West.

Neighborhoods

Some of the neighborhoods in Palos Verdes Estates include:

  • Malaga Cove features a remarkable fountain, a picturesque shopping and dining area, and the Palos Verdes Library, with its renewed water fountain. Neighborhood Church is across PCH from the shopping area, and holds many events in it’s gracious old building.
  • Lunada Bay also features a grand fountain, this one circular and part of a roundabout in front of the main dining and shopping area. The coastline bluffs are lovely for walking and feature soaring ocean views.
  • Montemalaga features stunning views of the Queen’s Necklace, which is a curved portion of the coastline. This area also has the highest elevation in Palos Verdes Estates. Montemalaga is a residential area, with no business or multi-family housing.
  • Valmonte is a family neighborhood.   The temperature is moderate and beautiful. There are no sidewalks, streetlights or signals. The gardens are lush and well-groomed. We go up there to see the stars when the opportunity presents. It is quiet and peaceful!

The city is designed with lots of open space.  There are many trees, and some hiking areas. It is altogether a lovely place to live.

Dealing With Narrow Streets

How We Overcome the Hills and More During Projects:

We have done several moves from Palos Verdes Estates to senior communities.  We have not noticed any challenges in moves from this area.  Thankfully, traffic is minimal, and folks drive respectfully.  However, some of the streets narrow, allowing 1 car at a time to pass.

We have also done some Online Auctions and Estate Sales in PVE.  Many of the neighborhoods with a rural feel do not have curbs, and parking space is limited.  We will set up a pick-up schedule where every winning bidder signs up for a specific time to pick up their items. This helps create a gentle flow of winners, so that everyone can find parking and obtain their items.

Before we set up a move or a Sale, or a Pick-up we review the needs of the property.  Each property is different.  Tim is a strategist, and he will have a plan in mind for the logistics of your move or sale so that safety of all concerned and ease of movement is maximized.
