What Makes El Segundo Unique?

The city was named El Segundo, which means “the second" in Spanish, because it was the second Standard Oil refinery on the West in 1911. El Segundo is home to many aerospace companies including Boeing, RTX Corporation, Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman. It is also home to Mattel, and The Los Angeles Air Force Base/Space Force Base.

El Segundo is home to the El Segundo Blue Butterfly, an endangered species.  Every year, citizens count the number of Blue Butterflies to work towards their continuance as a species.  The butterflies live on the plants of the sand dunes.

Landmarks:

It seems as though most of El Segundo could be considered a landmark.  Here are some fun ones:

  • Main Street/Downtown: Main street has a great assortment of one of a kind coffee shops, breweries, gift shops, eateries, and more.  Most of the downtown area has kept the 1960's buildings, and just updated enough to be clean and inviting.
  • Roundhouse Aquarium: A fun aquarium of local species!
  • Old Town Music Hall: This theater has an organ from the early 1900's to which has been added all sorts of bells and whistles, and more!  Silent movies are on offer, while a live organist plays the oversized Wurlitzer theatre organ.  Think family friendly entertainment circa1920, with sing alongs and more!

How We Overcome the Sand Dunes and More During Projects:

El Segundo is mostly built on sand dunes that parallel the Pacific Ocean.  Some streets are flat, while others can be a bit steep.  Parking is available at most locations.

For moves, we adjust the placement of the truck to the specific needs of the property.  If there is a very steep driveway, we may park the truck at the bottom of the driveway and use dollies for the furniture.

For Estate Sales and Online Auction Pick-ups, in the hillier areas, we have asked customers to park on the street, rather than trying to park several vehicles in the driveway and then having them jostle to leave.   One vehicle is allowed in the driveway at a time for loading larger furniture items.

Before we set up a move or a Sale, or a Pick-up we review the needs of the property.  Each property is different.  Tim is a strategist, and he will have a plan in mind for the logistics of your move or sale so that safety of all concerned and ease of movement is maximized.
